Three Ireland responded to a tweet asking about the availability of the Sony Xperia XA2 by saying that it wouldn’t be available on the network, but that the Sony Xperia XZ2 would be coming soon. That tweet has since been deleted, but not before XperiaBlog got a screenshot of it.
Now, it could have been deleted because it was wrong, but it seems more likely that it was deleted because it was right, and because Three Ireland had accidentally confirmed the existence of the phone.
A likely launch location
If it is coming soon it’s believable that the network would know about the Sony Xperia XZ2, and with MWC 2018 kicking off at the end of February that’s likely when we’ll see it.
And as well as giving us a good idea of when the Xperia XZ2 will launch, this tweet has also more or less confirmed that it will indeed be called the XZ2.
Earlier rumors for the phone suggest that it might sport a new design with a powerful Snapdragon 845 chipset, dual 12MP rear cameras and 4GB of RAM, so it could be worth getting excited about.
This might not be the only Sony flagship we get at MWC either, as the Sony Xperia XZ Premium 2 is due a successor round about now.
