Nolan Bushnell, who many consider to be the founding father of the modern video game industry was chosen to receive the ‘Pioneer Reward’ at this year’s Game Developers Choice Awards. However, due to some of his actions towards women in the 1970s and 1980s many people were unhappy he was going to receive the award. This backlash caused the GDC to rescind his nomination.
