Really? Some of you should know better.

    What are you talking about?

Tri Core, 3 GHz PowerPC-based 45nm CPU, very similar to the Xbox 360 chip. The CPU features 2 MB cache, 1 MB for Core 0, and 512 KB for cores 1 and 2

Where were you driving to?  I like drive videos and you should do more.

good venue. The IBM PowerPC is a lethal CPU compared to the old X86 architecture of Intel. Intel processors are like a fat ugly pizza with layers apon layers of ingredients to make it "special". one core, two cores, four cores more! instructions after instructions and even a ton more instructions yipee! What, not efficient enough? Just add a ton more caches and some chips and dips too please. i3, i5, i7.
IBMPC is built on RISC reduced instruction set computing and the customed version in the Wii U is made just for video games and nothing more.
Think of the IBMPowerPC like a sub-compact sports car. Those cars only have 4-cylinders and not 6 or 8 as in American or European larger muscle cars. They have a significantly less powerful engine. But the total car from the inside and out what makes it a roadster with 0-60 6-second accelloration. The Wii U with all of it's components including the IBMPowerPC is a sub-compact roadster for video games.

If you're talking about the memory bandwidth, it's reportedly about half of the PS3's, not 1/3rd. Not only that, but these numbers haven't even been confirmed yet. Same with the clock speed.

Assuming clock speed is the most important aspect. It isn't. If you know ANYTHING about specs, everything is about efficiency these days, numbers are just icing on the cake.

exactly…thats another reason why some 360 ports of popular games(batman, ac3,mass effect 3,…) have some minor performance issues at some points… these games were all built and optimised for cpu centered systems. and yea.. for the same aspects as you mentioned, gpu centered system architecture really is the way to go. its for the similar reasons wii u uses advanced html5 support instead of flash. 🙂

I agree, and I think that's how the new consoles should be made too. CPU's are expensive (especially the ones they use in consoles), and CPU's of today are no where near as powerful as GPU's.

It's just that developers have gotten so comfortable programming on 360 and PS3, being able to cut corners and save on costs, while still charging $60 a pop for games. They aren't ready to learn a new console yet, so they're gonna bash it and make it look bad.

Once again people just like the bit, clock speeds are too irrelevant!

Nevermind, turns out it is a quad-core. Doesn't seem so bad suddenly.

Not sure why they couldn't at least have a dual core, they seem to be throwing mini dual cores in phones really cheap. Also not sure why Deluxe package is only 32GB I mean new consoles should have 1TB editions by now. I don't even know where to find a single core processor anymore……

Oh yeah. I have no account on Xbitlabs but I sure read and learn from you guys there. I have seen AVON and his boyfriend derail the comment section with his oh-so-insightful post about AMD and his oh-so-deep knowledge about CPU's.

Happy new year to you too. I would add you on YOUTUBE but gay YOUTUBE has changed so much I can longer can add friends.

    exactly… clockspeed isnt everything
not to mention that the Wii U's architecture is GPU centered, where ps3 and 360 are CPU centered…. thats why Wii U's CPU is not as super fast as you'd expect. it doesnt NEED relatively fast cpu.
people need to realise this before bashing =)

    (May 18, 2018 - 2:12 pm)

Ya, you are absolutely correct. THQ followed up with the quote regarding the slow CPU and later said their team was stretched as it is once they extended the project to PS3 and they simply didn't have the resources to develop this game for the Wii U. A couple weeks later from that point, they declared bankruptcy and are now in the process of being bought out. I think I read that Ubisoft might buy them. As far as other games, it's a shame that developers are skipping Wii U with many of them.

not sure if it's not wanting to port, of more of a funding thing. metro last light said the processor was slow, but in another article they say they only saw the early dev kits which are nothing like the final kits. but thats something completely different.

as for most of the games u said, those games are probably already in their refinement stage. And the funding to port those over would be to great a cost.

I guess people tend to jump the gun on just clock speed.

I would be nice if you were to do a video explaining what you do know of the "Espresso" CPU in Wii U. Some want to believe it's simply based on a PPC 750 because Marcan said it was, yet several people on the internet (specifically on B3D) are skeptical based on what we know of that particular architecture's history. Is it really just Broadway @ 1.24ghz x 3 with 3MB L2 cache?

Or maybe, you can break open a Wii U and analyze yourself. 😉
