Hope you do not think that nintendo are going bankrupt, they're still a massive company.
Also I don't think he meant it like they intentionally mess up stuff

You strike me as a genuine Nintendo fan, and one who isn't blinded by fanboyism in any sort of extreme. The internet needs more voices of reason like yours.

i think what he meant was that when Nintendo noticed right away that the Wii U was failing so they shifted focus towards their next console. Doing so is intentionally let this one die, and by pushing developement of their main titles (like the New Zelda) to the NX

Maybe Take-Two's CEO can see something in Nintendo's odd pattern that we just can't?

Just like Rich, I'm trying to be optimistic.

As far as the Neo and Scorpio go, I don't think they are gonna sell well.

I DO not get how people say they love Nintendo, but want them to make a fucking Ps4 or XBOX… Nintendo is not a company I would ever want to see follow a trend.. I love them because they are willing to try new stuff.

I'm a big Nintendo fanboy and they make some of my favorite games of all time, but i'm tired of all the "we are not a part of the console wars, we do our own thing, and MS/Sony do their thing" mentality. They are fooling themselves if they think that business direction is the right way to go. As long as Nintendo make/publish games and hardware, they will ALWAYS be a part of the "console war." You can't be a part of an industry and claim your not participating.

Still not convinced about the NX, but i hope to be proven wrong. My understanding of the NX is this, it may not be a console as powerfull as a PS4, but it may be a Handheld/tablet with a power level close to PS4. And if you look at it that way, i think it sounds impressive.

    Another good video!

think you misinterpreted his words… but alas. Coke made new coke, knowing their would be an outcry and reverted back to the old flavour their sales went through the roof, their is an example of an intentional slump.

can anyone imagine a world if Nintendo released the Wii with not only the motion stuff that blew everyone's
minds, but also as powerful as 360/ps3? lol starting with motion plus.
perhaps fthey even pushed the wii back and released it as the wiiu back then with motion & gamepad. lol

He didn't say that rich, he said Nintendo is willing to take risks and if it doesn't work out, they move on to the next thing. They don't mind taking an "L"

Still, nintendo is mindfucking me with the cartridges.

I think you got hung up on this idea that Take-Two's CEO was suggesting that they create a poor console intentionally. My take away from it is that the CEO is/was suggesting that Nintendo purposefully takes a period of time to lay low and redirect their resources onto the next big thing. This has been evident across all their home consoles since the N64, whereby the last year or so of a consoles lifespan becomes very quite (at least from a AAA first party perspective). It is just that in the Wii U's case, this happened much sooner than previously. Nintendo had a great 2014 but the Wii U never shined due to that lack of third party support to fill in all the gaps.

Failure in the NX also doesn't mean the end of Nintendo as a hardware manufacturer, they may lose more investors but they would still have the funds and backing to produce another console. The concept of a universal generation span of 5-7 years, which has been in place since the DreamCast, may very well be coming to an end too. At least that is what I think when looking at it.

First time on this channel and watching one of these, not bad but on the note of criticism, I would suggest having a bit more weight behind what you are saying. Your discussions sound opinionated without much basis – not that it is necessarily is the case.

Thats not what he meant dummy he meant intentionally sit out the year while the wii u is dead and build there software up and re enter with NX

Man this market look just supid if nintendo is not there they like like a PC whit controler at this point.
Nintendo like it or not is the one that even make VR in the frist place. (Virtual boy it was just not well done)
And the NX will hopefully be as powerfull as the PS4 i don't care if it less powerfull than the NEO or what ever man PS4 graphique already sold me on there no way they can improve there console.

Nintendo will fail in the West due to frustration and distrust. They are tailoring the NX, which is weaker than the vanilla PS4, to a largely Japanese fan base that has strong demand for handhelds; demand for such devices is much weaker here in the US. I won't be surprised if Nintendo gets even more backlash and diminishing support. Someone pronounce the last rites

It is rather curious how Nintendo seemingly allowed the Wii U to die almost at the very start.

"We don't want to outsell the Playstation or the XBox". Rich, that's exactly how they think. I'm pretty sure Reggie confirmed that clearly enough for people to know that. They slump intentionally because they always want their way.

    Hi Rich,

The Nvidia Tegra thing is old news, Eurogamer reported the same thing about the Wii-U (project Cafe) years ago in 2009 or 2010. At this point, I don't think anybody really knows what the NX is or what its power and capabilities are just yet.

I think some of what has supposedly been leaked is misinformation, Nintendo has gone on record stating that they don't want their competitors knowing what they are up to. I don't think that you can blame them given the last 10 to 15 years of risks that they have taken. Some have succeeded (Wii) while the other risk failed miserably.

So, this report to me sounded like Eurogamer took misinformation to heart.

Additionally, Nintendo's new President has said that they were moving away from the Wii and Wii-U philosophy. Tending to the mobile game market now would be too similar to what the Wii and Wii-U did with the casual markets.

To me, what Eurogamer is reporting as fact is something that the Wii and Wii-U philosophy preached. Which would go against what the new Nintendo president has said. He even knew that the Wii-U would fail… so why would he want his company's new system to return to that philosophy?

Anyway, I don't think we'll see any direct news about the NX until very late in the year, December perhaps. Even though there are rumours that next month will reveal all, I don't believe that… or rather I won't believe it until it happens.

Until then, I would simply wait for something official.

I think the dock will have a extra gpu to make it a on pare with neo

    (May 18, 2018 - 1:11 pm)

I am confused how that was a ompliment.

"yeah these guys at Nintendo don't really give a damn, until they think of a good idea, then they actively choose when they need to release the product to market to save themselves.". Confirming that they slowly let things decline. Ref Pokemon Go, big success , zero support, they just cashing in and don't care about customers.

    This strategy basically never looses.

i don't care if the system is as powerful. if they have the game library, i'll get behind it.

What about new coke?? I feel like that had to be a marketing ploy.

    (May 18, 2018 - 1:11 pm)

Pokemon go is Nintendo's way of testing the field for there NX that's what I think. The NX will be advertised on Pokemon go to show players a better experience of playing mobile virtual games and a lot of players will buy NX. There's a lot of smart phone gamers out there and what better way to show a new system.

    (May 18, 2018 - 1:11 pm)

The issue with Nintendo is the cognitive dissonance of the leaders. I think Strauss's words are being misconstrued and he chose them poorly, but I understand what he is saying.

The fact it isnt super powerful means one sure thing, third party support will be minimal. It also means the wait for tripple A tittles will still be long as ever scince they will count on their own content to sell it.
Not backwards compatable for U sucks.
rough translation repay for digital content on NX. Big question is future of 3ds.
Just like all other Nintendo products will wait till atleast second or third year of its life to see if worth buying. All depends on game library. Also it better support Amiibo.

People keep saying the Wii U is the worst selling Nintendo console ever. Have you guys forgotten about Virtual Boy?

    (May 18, 2018 - 1:11 pm)

He was not talking about releasing systems that sell poorly. I was talking about how there is a delay between when one console tapers off and the next one comes out.

I have a conflict of interest when it comes to Nintendo, on the one hand I like them to do well so we have more competition in the market but on the other hand I kind of like the idea of them pulling out of the console race and doing a Sega by releasing their games on PC, PS and Xbox.

Being a PC gamer, I think I would of bought many of Nintendo's games if they was on the PC, so I have to wonder how much are they losing because of that, I have to wonder if they would make more money that way then they do now.

Anyway, if Nintendo does make a success of the NX hybrid console then I suspect many mobile phone companies will make a play for that market by making it easier for mobiles to used as a console on the tv, the hardware is already there, Vulcan is coming to the next version of Android which should give it a performance boost and make it easier to port games from PC, consoles and Android easier which might diminish the chances of the NX succeeding.

we do realize that the neo and scorpio are just reiterations of the same consoles right? so nx is technically a mid-gen bandage.
