this is how sony gaffles your wallet. lure you in with all the progamer double talk then smack on the fees.bait and switch 101 pay attention.

haha!! he said he is a equal opportunity asshole…

Time to sell my PS4 and build a power house computer. Fuck you Sony and your greedy cunts. PC master race for the win.

  4. bobthehobo231

no one needs to re-buy there games they own. backwards compatibility is nice but nothing is set in stone so i hope sony does work on it asap ūüôā they can take there time

I have to wonder: Is emulating the Cell even possible with today's hardware? That damn thing's a complex beast that I'm pretty sure would require a supercomputer to emulate. Hell, even PS2 emulation isn't great right now.

Sony started the 8th gen correctly.
    But Microsoft finished it correctly.

  7. TheKeithvidz

MS after that disaster launch, locked themselves into COMPETITION mode.
Sony's president comes across conceited. A tonne of viewers bemoan the cell is why bc is impossible. Utter rubbish as Sony is yet to try. Like bemoaning u can't make a pc 5 years from 2 day because hardware is different.

Ever think if they can stream p3 to the p4 they can offer it at 0 cost? Or rather its easier milking yr wallet than putting the effort.

Cell this & that. Forgetting 360 and xbo have vastly differing chips and pulled it off despite saying it won't.
This Octo 2015 ms beat yr sales. Wake up. Being at near bottom drove ms to hire Phil and they sing his praises. Not Sony's president. Bet u were sales reversed a new UI and BC is what sony fanboys would boast till morning

maybe some games but it wont be backwards compatible for old call of duty games 100 percent

  9. Dan Guiana

Sony will end up like Sega if they don't fix this shit. I mean how hard was it to have the SAME F*CKING PSN STORE for the PS4? Maybe it isn't capable of playing older games directly from disk, but you're telling me it can't handle a PSOne Classic? GIVE ME A BREAK!

Why aren't fans pissed about this?
I was one of many people who hated Sony's decision to utilized a paid subscription for online multiplayer, but no everyone wanted PS Plus because it's such a great service(sarcasm).
If sony keeps going this way their fame is going to die real soon.

Also because of BC. Microsoft has one of if not THE best racing game of all time: Burnout Revenge. What "new" racing game from sony can top that?

I see a lot of people comment against you on the backward compatibility. Those that do don't quite how understand how many other people work besides themselves. Having BC is a great gimmick for many players now TODAY. Considering a lot of bad to mediocre launch titles from the PS4, and Xbox One and horrible businesses especially from last year (2014 was the year of lies). People now would REJOICES to hear BC. Not hitting gamers with microtransactions, uncomplete glitchy games, pre-order exclusive bonus, and day one DLC. People I believe now want to go back and remember where games were fun, revolutional, an experience, and pay full price for a full game with free extra content instead of feeling like you're paying full for half a game. Hell, even so remasters of great games aren't safe. There are those that are too expensive (God of War Remastered), those that suck (Silent Hill HD collection, and Prince of Persia Trilogy HD), and other games that may never be remastered that people would want to play.

Where is the Ace Combat HD collection, Burnout HD collection, Chaos Legion HD, Spider-Man 2 HD, Ultimate Spider-Man HD, Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction HD, Star Ocean 3 HD, Tekken Tag 1 is only on hybrid? Max Payne 1 and 2 HD, Onimusha HD collection, etc? Though I'm actually a bit scared that they will fuck these up, which is why BC is a much better idea right now than it was before.

Also, people need to understand that there is gamers, a lot of gamers out there that can't keep multiple systems. Thanks to the last gen's bad business practices and games being more expensive. There is people right now that have to save money by selling their systems for a current gen or for themselves, or have recently bought a PS3 just when they announced a PS4 around the same time and haven't played the games that they wanted. BC is like killing two birds with one stone. They can play new games while experience ones they never tried before. PS now isn't going to help. It's a month subscription, you have to stay online, and if sometime you want to play the game again, you have pay for it. So no.

totally agree, Ms has always been more listening to their communities, since the 360, i think it's because sony is mainly a japanese company that doesnt know how to feal and interact better with their community, on the last gen i was buying all multiplaftorm games on 360 cos they run smoother or with better graphics, better anti alisaing, i have to say i always have all the consoles that are available so i'm not a classic fanboy , but what i wish for is that at least ps now will allow you to play your didtal and disc games for free as you said, that the minimum, but apparently ps now is a total failure, they even can't keep up with the promise of adding 5 ps3 games per month… and it's expensive

, on this gen i started to buy multiplatform games mainly on ps4 , keeping my xbox one for it's amazing exclusives each second semester .but now i dont know what to do , for example i have to buy need for speed 2015 and just cause 3 , i dont know if i'm taking it on One or PS4, because i wish both of them would tell us right now, " he listen folks, do not worry all the ps4 or xbox one games you are buying now will be BC on our next console " i wish they would talk near the release date of a new console if the game we will buy will be BC on the next system …

so now seeing ( and as a preview member i've tested the One 360 BC , i can say i works flawlessly )MS is talking about even vring the original BC from the 360 to the Xbox one, that would be awesome to be able to play panzer dragoon orta, shenmue 2, jet set radio future and so many others on One… i'm not sure sony will make the ps4 BC… but at least now that htese consoles are mostly like computers with an X64 architecture… i dont see why the next gen console would not be BC… but for the moment , and seeing all the effort Ms did , i will support them by buying all multiplatform games on xbox one . ( crossing my fingers they'll be BC on the next xbox )

WE SHOULD HAVE THE RIGHT TO KNOW FROM THE MOMENT A CONSOLE IS RELEASED IF IT WILL BE FUTURE PROOF AND IT'S GAMES BC WITH THEIR NEXT CONSOLE .

Sony arrogance today is that same as Microsoft's arrogance during the 360's period of domination. History just loves repeating itself.

  15. Ryan McDohl

backwards compatibility is totally unnecessars. paly your ps3 games on ps3 console.

  16. Ant Jay

Back compatibility only goes to show that Microsoft have a scrap current library of games, and are working hard only because they're consoles sales are suffering. Sony would have a massive uphill task to make back compatibility work on ps4 due to cell, jeez that processor is so complex that it was tough to make games for the ps3 period. I don't think it's arrogance from Sony I think it is simply to mammoth a task to complete. Personally I'd rather have new games anyway.
Although I will concede that from an outside consumer standpoint it does look bad that Sony are charging to stream ps3 games and Microsoft are doing it for free, but as said previously there is a Damon good reason why Sony aren't doing this in the traditional way.

+ReviewTechUSA¬†i know this is already old, however, i think your opinion is off base…again. ¬†Unless backwards comparability improves the gaming clarity, it won't in this case, it's an unnecessary and unimportant feature. ¬†if you own an xbox 360 library or a ps3 library you will already be able to play them on your ps3/xbox 360 that YOU SHOULD STILL HAVE. ¬†why would anyone sell their ps3/xbox360 if they still have a library associated with it, especially since those consoles, until had no backwards capability.

anyways, sony is not thinking bass ackwards. ¬†the are actually learning from their prior mistakes. ¬†the PS3 floundered out the gate because of ps2/ps1 compatibility costs. ¬†hell, everyone in the world already had a ps2 at that point…completely unnecessary.

also, afaik, pstv or what ever is not for people who own the games…it's those that don't…basically former xbox 360 owners.

  18. Ruben hernandez

I honestly can care a less fuck about backwards compatibility since i got all playstations 1 2 3 and 4 lol so it doesnt affect me much but yah i want an xbox one just for rare replay and i noticed xbox kinect camera costs 150 compared to playstation 60 dollar mark lol pretty bad

  19. John Smith

sony would rather take us for a ridevand pay for ps now. I call bs on the teck issues of bc on ps4, there is such a thing as ps3 eimlater software for pc.
