[ONEPLUS 6 HANDS-ON]

“From where I’m sitting, this is the last time the company can hike its prices without a significant upgrade in design or camera performance.” That’s how I closed out my review of the last OnePlus smartphone, the OnePlus 5T released in November 2017. Well, wouldn’t ya know it: the OnePlus 6 (announced just moments ago) features an upgraded design, better camera specs, and –yes– a little price hike to go with ‘em. Does the OnePlus 6 bring enough of a boost in quality to justify a price point nearly double the OnePlus One’s of 2014? The full conclusion will have to wait for the OnePlus 6 review coming soon; for now, check out my early impressions of the device in the MrMobile OnePlus 6 hands-on!

[ABOUT MRMOBILE’S ONEPLUS 6 HANDS-ON]

MrMobile’s OnePlus 6 Hands-On was produced following one day with a OnePlus 6 review device in Mirror Black (6GB/128GB) and a OnePlus 6 review device in Midnight Black (6GB/128GB) at the MrMobile studio in Boston, MA. The devices received one software update each during the hands-on process. All conclusions are preliminary in advance of the full OnePlus 6 review landing later in May 2018.

One plus pushed too far a long time away. Sure, it will sell and it will sell well. Because they have strong brand now. But imo One plus was born and died with the OPO. They still cut corners but you pay almost as much as the other brands.

I think I'd rather plumb for the G7 this year compared, especially as I think it's rumoured to be priced similarly…

At least they learnt their lesson. When the op5 came out looking like the ip7plus, they were mocked mercilessly. So to pad the notch reveal they padded it with pre announcement and numerous leaks and went with the LG camera and fingerprint location.

The phone is great especially the space grey one but kind of boring right. No breakthrough or surprising innovation. Even the bullet sounds a lot like a steal from the Beats x features. Magnets, auto off, fast charge even the balance looks familiar. Does it have google fast pair though?

I am still using a 3t. Their pricing makes me look at the moto G series for an upgrade

I really do think that the 6 is a bit overpriced.

Well in Sweden OnePlus 6 is worth it. Pixel 2 XL is 1100 USD. And Samsung s8 around 750.

    (May 16, 2018 - 6:25 pm)

Other than the chipset and software, this phone seems mediocre. I feel like OnePlus is losing its "flagship killer" title.

I remember when OnePlus was actually a budget phone. They should have stayed in the 300-400 price range with these specs. For 600 I'm looking at Apple, Pixel for a few penny's more.

Nope, not considering this phone. Nothing against OnePlus, just not impressed at all

    (May 16, 2018 - 6:25 pm)

I don't understand this notch trend. I would get it if there was completely no bezels. But there is still a massive chin at the bottom and a decently sized lip all around the edges. I think that's defeats the purpose of having a notch. At this point it's here because "it's the new thing" and not because it was necessary.

    (May 16, 2018 - 6:25 pm)

    So….the 5t is getting a price cut?

    Jonathan Domenech

    (May 16, 2018 - 6:25 pm)

I think I'm going to have to stay with my international version Galaxy S8+. Wireless charging is too nice for me to want to give up. Also, Exynos <3.

    utsav koju

    (May 16, 2018 - 6:25 pm)

Surely overpriced. Oneplus is forgetting the legacy it has set. I would rather go for LG or Samsung @ this price range. Even Nokia has got some good guns in it shelves below this range.

    Mohannad Kattan

    (May 16, 2018 - 6:25 pm)

I would buy it only if it had stereo speakers.

    (May 16, 2018 - 6:25 pm)

Emmmmm, the pixel 2 has THICCC bezeles no thanQ, I would even had the LG G7 ThinQ then pixel. So oneplus bring it on!

If you are going to put a notch at least take out the chin. That was the whole point of iPhoneX. If you are going to copy Apple at least copy right. Why bother with a glass back and not put wireless charging. Kind of a waste. Daily water resistance means nothing. People who actually might buy this phone are suckers because these bro dudes will undoubtedly release a 6T mid year with the missing features. Apple must be their design department.

    Fady Kazzazi

    (May 16, 2018 - 6:25 pm)

Whats the point of glass back without wireless charging?
And still no water proofing? I dont see much has changed since OP5T.
