He bashes Cliff, but The Cliff is right about the industry, used games are going to make games more expensive.

  8. imSulfurate

I love Cliff, but damn he is such an idiot sometimes. His stance on used games and this… ugh.

If they focused on quality instead of quantity, the would get more for the games they make. To me, quality died for most after the ps2/ xbox era. Nintendo makes quality games for their first party games. GTA 5 is a quality game and look at how much Rockstar made off of it alone. Now only if Rockstar would make games for the Wii u…..lol.

I feel like used games dissuade piracy. Used everything does. Maybe not profitable, but keeps it legal.

The whole production cost problem is dev and publishers is focusing in the wrong areas.  They keep focusing on visual quality, how to make the best eye candy, and some gimmicky features to sell, but not the best gameplay.  (Of course there are a few exceptions)

It is actually fine to reboot games now a days, but focus on gameplay, and it will sell well.  Both publishers and developers need to lay off on the visual fidelity coolaid and focus on the game itself.  XCOM reboot for example did well, and the budget wasn't sky high by today's standard.  Return to gameplay, and the developers will start selling more games while lower the cost of production.  It is the right time to do so since we are hitting that graphical plateau.

Of course, there were also good games that never got the recognition it deserved, I can name quite a few during the PS3/XBOX360 gen alone.  Of course some of the most interesting games in history would be so piss poor to market it wouldn't even be funny.  Gameplay just doesn't make a good commercial, it has to be experienced first hand which is what the game media is suppose to do which is to relay that first hand experience to players.

Good graphics are nice, but when half of the "modern" games have worse gameplay than a pixilated moogle in turn base combat, there is definitely something weird going on in the gaming industry itself.

they needed to bully the bigger corporations that take money away from devs (e.g., gamestop), not the users. If MS had offered games at either 50 or 40 dollars new, but completely removed the used game market, people would have been somewhat supportive, but instead they didn't.

If they did it right I would have been very excited to have gamestop out of the equation. It seems like gamestop selling used games for $55, without giving any of it to the devs, is a bigger issue for companies than pirating of games themselves (especially since used games are allowed). Or if they wanted, you could buy the game used, but pay an additional 5-10 dollars to change the owner, that way used games are still allowed, but gamestop aren't selling them off of the shelf for 55$

Cliffy B needs to stop sucking Microsoft's dick….Fuck Cliffy B….he should stick to what he does best….Gears of War!!!

the gaming industry is too focused on making money instead of quality games…if the games are good they will sell….GTA 5 prime example…
