renting IS more expensive than owning. where did you get your zany illustration from? no way you can even rent one room for 550 a month. not where I live. who has 100,000 to invest? nobody does. thats why people go for bank loans.
finally, rent as long as you want and when you're done, you have NOTHING to show for it. buy a house and when its paid off, you HAVE something of value

People… renting an apartment is NOT cheaper than owning a property… This is wrong.

#12…IF your rent or buy the same house (to make the comparison fair), buying is always better if you're staying in the same area for at least 5 years. This is especially true with interest at very low rates. Interest rates anywhere under 7% is low in spite of what the last ten years has led you to believe.

I'm both a landlord and a home owner. For my rentals, I roll all house payments, interest, upkeep and a profit margin in the amount charged for rent. If I'm losing money, I get rid of the house (Almost always with a profit). Do you think someone is going to rent to you for less than the costs? Do you think landlords are charities?

I'm sure there are exceptions but you are definitely misleading on this point and hopefully, by the time someone is in their 30's, they can easily figure that out for themselves.

Just horribly misleading. Firstly although not my main concern: “nagged to have kids”… everybody knows they have a choice. So what if it costs money? You should put relationships ahead of money, because otherwise what are you saving for? And anyway you say kids can drain your funds as much as $250,000… but in reality it can drain much more if you let it, it would make more sense if you were saying a minimum figure. But anyway that would be like saying owning cars will set you back hundreds of thousands of dollars. Well yeah it will eventually, but it’s kind of worth it right?
Next onto houses and renting: it doesn’t matter how cheap the rent is, you’re either paying someone’s else’s mortgage, or you’re paying your own. Looking at the long term scenario, if it is realistic to pay off the whole mortgage with your current and expected future situation, you will be better off buying. Otherwise yeah renting would be better. Once you own one house, you can mortgage another and rent out either of them. Then someone else rents your house. People who rent out their houses obviously make good money, so why do you want to be the person renting from them?
I know this is a video on how much things cost, but when you put your bias’s into it, you’re promoting your views as the ideal views.

    Pro-Tip:
Make a budget. Even a simple T-chart is fine. For example, place income on one side, fixed expenses (Bills, Groceries, Rent, etc.) on the other, and see how much of your income is left. You can save as much as you'd like. Best of luck. 🙂

I think if you have kids younger it will cost much less. If you wait, you will not receive the tax credit, won't qualify for any help and will have more money for more expensive toys. A mortgage is much much cheaper than renting in California.

Saying renters don't have to pay taxes or for repairs shows a lack of understanding. Who do you think is paying those things? The landlord because they are nice? Rent includes taxes and repairs. It's just not broken out for you.

Also it is much harder to sublease than to lease. So if you own the property you can just rent it out if you ever want to move out, or if you just want to make money.

12 is bull even if you could find a rental that costs 500 a month, no one buys the house outright you would get a mortgage and it would be less than that 500.
